Google Play promo codes

Deliver validated Android rewards with manually imported, one-time Google Play codes

Use this flow when an Android referral reward is a Google Play promotion such as a free subscription trial, a paid app, or a one-time product. Invitebase validates the referral and reserves one encrypted Android code; Google Play remains the promotion issuer and redemption authority.

Use one-time use codes only. Google Play custom codes are reusable and have different eligibility and in-app redemption rules, so they do not belong in Invitebase’s one-code-per-reward inventory.

What Invitebase does—and does not do

Invitebase stores the Play promotion metadata, imports the CSV of one-time codes you create, and gives an Android claim only an Android code after referral validation. It does not connect to the Android Publisher API to create or download individual promo values.

That limitation is deliberate: the current Android Publisher REST surface includes subscription and base-plan APIs but does not provide a promotion-code inventory API. Create the promotion in Play Console, download its CSV, and use Invitebase for secure platform-specific delivery. See Google’s Android Publisher API reference and Create promotions for the current capability and console flow.

Configure the manual flow

  1. In Settings → Platforms, enable Android and save the app’s Google Play package name.
  2. On the campaign’s offer-code reward page, open Google Play promo codes. Record the recipient, promotion type, product and (for subscriptions) backwards-compatible base plan, promotion name, and dates.
  3. In Play Console, open Monetize with Play → Promo codes, create a one-time promotion using those details, then download its CSV.
  4. In Offer-code inventory, create a pool for the same reward recipient. Select Android as the default platform and paste or upload the CSV. Set its redemption URL to https://play.google.com/redeem unless the app supports its own in-app redemption path.
  5. Run a complete test-mode referral. The receiver should see the same assigned Android code on a safe repeat retrieval; changing platforms must never allocate an iOS, web, or custom code.

Promotion constraints

  • Subscription promotions use a backwards-compatible base plan. Make the promotion’s free-trial length and eligibility clear in the campaign terms.
  • One-time use subscription codes are limited to 10,000 per subscription product per quarter. Paid-app and one-time-product codes share a 500-per-app-per-quarter limit.
  • A promotion can last up to one year. Unused one-time codes do not carry over to the next quarter.
  • Users can redeem one-time codes in Google Play or in the app. Never deliver a code before the referral reaches validated and the receiver claim is verified.
